Tracy Arm Fjord

July 24, 2012

I have decided that fjords are officially my favorites places in the world – wherever you can find them. =) Alaska, Norway, New Zealand…beautiful! On about our 4th day of the cruise we cruised into the Tracy Arm Fjord and made our way up to the Sawyer Glacier. The captain later told us that we had gotten closer to the glacier than any other ship had so far that year. He said often times due to weather they can’t even come around the corner to the glacier, so we were very lucky/blessed to be able to get that far and get so close!

The spray on the right is from where part of the glacier calved and dropped off – sounded like thunder!

We passed several sea lions (or whatever they were) just floating by on little icebergs

The smaller piece of ice reminded me of a fish =)

We saw countless waterfalls

These pictures don’t even do it justice. The whole area was just breathtaking, everywhere you looked it was beautiful. I am so thankful we had the chance to go!
