Skagway pt 1

July 6, 2012

Unlike the warm temperatures that greeted us in Juneau, Skagway was overcast and cold when we arrived.  So we finally got to wear all the warm clothes we had packed. =) We had booked an afternoon train ride on the White Pass railway and so were able to sleep in a bit before walking into the downtown area to shop in the morning. After shopping for a bit, we walked back to the ship and had lunch before boarding the train. This was definitely the highlight of Skagway! The scenery was gorgeous! The higher we climbed into the mountains, the colder it got, and I was glad for the scarf and gloves I had brought. Most everyone stayed inside the cars, but those of us who wanted to get better pictures (and not through the glass) stayed out on the little platform behind the car and it was definitely a cold ride, but so worth it!

I took over 700 pictures on this train ride, so paring them down to post just a few is quite a challenge, but I will do my best. =)

I’ll post more Skagway pics next time. =)

I love these train pics. The first two are my favorite! 🙂
