St. Kitts and Nevis

April 25, 2012

The day after we left St. Croix we arrived in our first Caribbean country – St. Kitts and Nevis, at the island of St. Kitts.

At the port in Basseterre, St. Kitts

We had scarcely disembarked before we had somehow gotten  ourselves signed up for an island tour with a local taxi driver and were off to see the sights.

Our first "stop" was to look out the window at these trees teeming with birds!

Our next 'stop' - the man on the side of the road with a monkey. You could him pay for the privilege of getting pictures with the monkey =) (The monkey kept trying to eat my bracelet, he loved it)

Then it was on to the local “botanical garden”

Looking out at the garden from inside the shop

An Anglican church that was damaged in a hurricane

Where the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean meet - so you can see currents coming from two different directions

Lots of headless palm trees, thanks to hurricanes =/

Volcanic rock

It was a lil windy here =)

In the shopping area at the port

On our way back to the ship after our island tour, we ran into another monkey owner who offered for us to take pictures with his monkeys. I told him I was sorry but I had no money left, and he insisted it was okay, he’d take pictures for us anyways. So we did. =)

I love this picture. The one monkey is investigating my earring, while the other one is pulling the bow on my shirt.

Then the owner put one on top of my head - and he kept sliding off! Meanwhile the other one kept trying to push my sunglasses down onto my face.

They were so cute!

Just for fun =)

The perfect souvenir to bring back from another country - a Lakers dress, of course. =) (this was being sold in the port shopping area)

After St. Kitts we sailed away, off to our next destination – Grenada.

I love the picture of the yellow building and the lizard. And those pics with the two monkeys never fail to make me smile. 🙂
