Oh Really?

March 30, 2011

I just love advertising these days [sarcasm]. It almost feels like someone is right inside your computer, reading all your emails and then suggesting that perhaps you’d like to buy this purse to go along with your night out. Really?

But the other day they took it a step further. Blatant false advertising! They* didn’t even try to mask it. (Or perhaps they thought I would be too dumb to notice?) I had been doing a little research for our upcoming trip and had been looking at photos of the Niagara Falls light show on Google images, and came across this pretty picture:

Accessed via multiple websites

A few minutes later an ad popped up on the side of my facebook page. “365 things to do in Los Angeles before you die.” And there it was, the picture of Niagara Falls that I had just been looking at. At first I got all excited. I can visit Niagara Falls without leaving the comforts of Los Angeles? When did this happen?

Okay, so maybe I didn’t. But really? Really?

*When I say “they” I am referring to whatever computer program/spyware is out there snooping in my emails etc.
