The Dead Sea

December 14, 2010

One (of many) of the things I was excited to see in Israel was the Dead Sea (which is the lowest point on Earth). I had heard many things about it, but one thing I was never told was how BEAUTIFUL it is! I was completely surprised as we drove for many miles along it’s coast. The beach and shoreline looked like something from a Caribbean island. That whole stretch of beach is also full of sinkholes (you can see many of them filled with rainwater) and people are not supposed to go down there because it’s dangerous. Once we finally got to a stretch of beach that we were allowed to go to, the landscape had flattened out a bit and I don’t think the colors were quite as pretty. But all the salt underwater was pretty! It looked like snow! Here are a few pics from then. (Oh and some random Qumran Caves and Egypt pics too. Oh and I am just noticing there’s also a picture of my amazing, elusive¬† Israeli chocolate.)
